4-H Language Arts 
4H/Tropicana Public Speaking Program
Targeted Age Group: Grades 4-6
Sunshine Standards: LA
This curriculum is designed to give students experience in the preparation and delivery of a speech. It includes a public speaking competition at the class, school, and county level. Join the hundreds of Pinellas County teachers and thousands of Pinellas County students who have already participated in this program. It is one of the most rewarding and easy-to-use curricula available to teachers on the topic of public speaking. Don't let your students miss out on this great opportunity.
Curriculum will be available immediately after the start of school, and will be sent to the school coordinator. Each enrolled classroom will receive one set of classroom ribbons (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place) and each school will receive medallions for the school winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place).
Contest Dates
At the discretion of the school, but before Dec 21, 2007- Classroom and School competitions.
December 21, 2007 – Tropicana School Winners due in 4-H Office.
Semifinals: January 10, 15, and 17, 2008 Time - 7 p.m. Your semifinal location will be in your curriculum packet.
County Final: January 29, 2008 - Pinellas Extension Office - Time - 7 p.m.
The first place Elementary winner and the first place Middle School winner will each receive a roving trophy to keep at their school for a year. First place winners also get a five-day trip to 4-H summer camp in Ocala National Forest. Second—Fourth place winners will receive plaques compliments of Tropicana.
