4-H Pizza Garden- An Agricultural Adventure 4-H Logo

Targeted Age Level : Grades 2 – 5
Sunshine Standards: SS, MA, LA, SC, HE, VA, SA, and History.
The theme of the curriculum is agriculture in Florida as seen through a pizza, since just about every child loves to eat pizza and can relate to this concept. Imagine teaching your students math, language arts, and science using pizza as the reference. You will never lose their attention. The lessons will be hands on and focus on careers in agriculture, food and nutrition, production, and food sources.

Following the completion of the curriculum, you will have the opportunity to take your students on a Field Trip to the “Pizza Garden”. The Field Trip is limited to the first 24 classes in 2 - 5th grades, so register early. Select your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd choices for the date of your field trip to the “Pizza Garden”. The curriculum will be delivered the week of Sept. 10, 2007

The field trip to the 4-H Pizza Garden will include; four hands-on workshops about various commodity groups that help produce a pizza. The workshops, plus a lunch period will run from 11:00am to 12:18pm each day.

A Speaker is available to give a 45-minute introductory lesson to the class, which includes each student making butter and tasting it on crackers. Please indicate on the Pizza Garden Registration form the date you would like this presentation for your class.
