Pest Control License & Test Information

The PCO license, is available for commercial contractors applying pesticides to their customer's property. This certification is only available to those with documentation of 3 years experience working "under" someone with the same category of this certification.

There are 4 different categories within this certification - General Household Pest (known as GHP), Lawn & Ornamental (L&O), Termite and Fumigation.

This certification requires a passing grade (75%) on the PCO exam. This certification must be renewed annually either by testing or with 4 CEUs.

Renewal

Annually, on or before an anniversary date set by the department, an individual so issued a pest control operator’s certificate must apply to the department on a form prescribed by the department for renewal of such certificate. After a grace period not exceeding 30 calendar days following such renewal date, a late renewal charge of $50 shall be assessed and must be paid in addition to the renewal fee.

Unless timely renewed, a certificate automatically expires 180 calendar days after the anniversary renewal date. Subsequent to such expiration, a certificate may be issued only upon successful reexamination and upon payment of the examination and issuance fees due.

  • 2 CEUs in each appropriate category plus
  • 2 CEUs in 482 CORE
  • 4 CEUs in total
  • Every 1Year

Note: 1 CEU (Continuing Education Unit) equals 50 minutes of classroom time. This is a State of Florida license issued by the Bureau of Licensing and Enforcement, a division of Agricultural Environmental Services.
