Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape AssociationThe FNGLA Certified Horticulture Professional (FCHP) program is the industry’s only standard for measuring horticulture knowledge on everything from plant and pest identification to landscape management. This is the foundation level certification for general horticulture. It is applicable for nurseries, retail garden, and landscape maintenance professionals among others. Anyone involved in the horticulture industry will benefit from FCHP certification.

Requirements

Florida Certified Horticulture Professional Logo

If you must meet ONE of the following criteria, to be eligible to become certified and proudly display the FCHP emblem on your uniform and in your business:

  • Employed in Florida horticulture for 90 days prior to application
  • Full-time student in an accredited horticulture program (or graduated within the preceding 18 months)
  • Instructor of horticulture
  • Member of the Florida Nurserymen, Growers & Landscape Association (FNGLA)

 

Fees & Renewal Information

Exam Fees:

  • $20 per section, 4-part FCHP written exam is $80 for FNGLA members
  • $35 per section, 4-part FCHP written exam is $140 for non-members

  • Any exam section that is not completed successfully may be retaken, once the applicant applies for a retest and pays a retest fee. The cost per section for a retest is the same as for the first attempt.

Renewal Information:

  • Every 3 years
  • FCHPs are required to earn 15 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in order to renew. Without the CEUs the exam must be retaken
  • Renewal is $50 for FNGLA members and $75 for non-members for the three-year certification period

FNGLA’s FCHP Manual was developed through a combined effort of practicing industry professionals, the University of Florida Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences and allied industry personnel. It is an excellent resource and informational tool for troubleshooting and answering questions involving proper plant use, plant problems, landscape maintenance and proper pesticide use.
