Florida Nursery, Growers & Landscape AssociationThe Florida Certified Landscape Designer (FCLD) certification is designed to recognize those individuals who have demonstrated a high level of professional competence in landscape design. FNGLA’s Certified Landscape Designer program offers a professional designation for practicing Landscape Designers and provides consumers a way to choose qualified design professionals.

Candidates must pass a comprehensive 5-part field exam and 6-part written exam, in addition to the FCHP Core Exam, to demonstrate knowledge in horticultural skills and landscape design practices. For more complete information visit: http://www.fngla.org/certification/FCLandDesign.asp

If you must meet the following criteria, to be eligible to become certified and proudly display the FCLD emblem on your uniform and in your business:

  • you must pass the Florida Certified Horticulture Professional exams
  • those qualified to sit for the FCLD exam must have a minimum of two years’ professional landscape design experience. The applicant must also submit a completed landscape plan with photos and letters of reference with their application in order to sit for the exam

Exam Fees:

  • $300 for FNGLA members
  • $525 for non-members

  • Exam fees cover all field exams, including plant material, supplies and equipment required. Lunch, snacks and refreshments are also provided. You must provide your own safety equipment, calculators, rulers and writing utensils. Manuals and training sessions require an additional fee.

Renewal Information:

  • Every 3 years
  • FCLDs are required to earn 30 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) in order to renew. Without the CEUs the exam must be retaken
  • Renewal is $50 for FNGLA members and $75 for non-members for the three-year certification period
