Garden Education Units
Every Certified Master Gardener is required to obtain 10 Garden Education Units (GEUs) each year to maintain their certification. Each GEU equals one hour of continuing education.
Garden Education Units are provided by the monthly Master Gardener Update training that is normally held on the 8th of each month. If the 8th falls on Saturday, the update is held that day. If the 8th falls on Sunday, the update will be held on Monday the 9th. This allows everyone opportunities to attend at least a few updates each year.
Master Gardener field trips and special classes also count as GEUs.
The annual Florida State Master Gardener Continued Training Conference held in October each year is an excellent source of up-to-date gardening information.
In addition, other educational programs presented by plant societies and other groups can also provide GEUs. You will need special permission from the Master Gardener Coordinator to count these hours.
